March is Suicide Awareness month at Battle High School. We chose this topic for March to honor the memory of one of our own. Last year we lost a Battle student to suicide, and we want to make sure our students are aware that there is always another option. IT GETS BETTER.
Suicide is the THIRD leading cause of death for youth ages
12-18. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart
disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung
disease, COMBINED.
If you're feeling hopeless DO NOT commit suicide. You may think you're alone, but you can't imagine the impact on those you love, or how much you'll truly be missed.
If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts DON'T KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. Make sure you share with a friend, teacher, administrator, or guidance counselor and DON'T HESITATE to call 1 (800) 784-2433 - that's 1 (800) SUICIDE.
